With a deep respect for traditional martial arts, Pacific Rim strives to create meaningful relationships with our students, while passing on the art of self-defense and self-reliance.  Our philosophy of respect, discipline, courage and consistency is the template for developing great people.

As expressed by the characters ZEN EI KAN, everything we do is dedicated to fostering an environment where each student is challenged to reach their fullest potential, while contributing to the development of others through the principle of mutual welfare and benefit.

Styles We Teach

At Pacific Rim, we teach five distinct yet complimentary modern martial arts; Judo, Jujutsu, Aikido, Hapkido and TaeKwonDo.  While some of our students specialize in one art, most enjoy training in each of the arts to enrich their experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does traditional martial arts mean?

The term “traditional” can mean many things. A few of the defining characteristics of a traditional dojo are a lineage in a recognized historical style, a respectful and disciplined atmosphere, a commitment to basic etiquette and formalities, and a focus on contributing to society through the development of people. One of the reasons people seek out traditional martial arts is the structured approach to developing technical excellence as well as training in an environment of mutual respect and welfare.

When are classes offered?

We offer classes four days per week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Click here to see our current schedule.

What style (art) is right for me?

The most important consideration in which style is right for you is finding a style that best fits your personality and passions. If what you want is to learn the art of striking while getting a great workout, then consider TaeKwonDo. If you want to learn the art of throwing and how to grapple, then give Judo a try. If you want to focus on personal development in a non-competitive environment where movement and blending are emphasized, Aikido is the art for you. Finally, if learning an effective method of self-defense in a safe and systematic format is your goal, then Hapkido and Jujutsu should be your choice.

How much does it cost?

Our fees are based on how many days you want to train per week. Students sign up online and you can change your program options at any time. Click here to learn more about our flexible pricing.

When can I start?

Beginners are welcome to join at anytime. We also offer a beginner class on Saturdays specially designed for first-time students.

What is the dress code?

We wear traditional white uniforms (gi) during practice. Blue uniforms are allowed during judo class. Plain black or white t-shirts (no logos or writing) can be worn under your gi.
